To start the main program, click on the button on the main screen which is titled "Start Birds of the World". There is an audio introduction, which will begin as soon as you have clicked the button. While the audio is playing, you will see a screen which says "Click Here to Begin". This will take you to the Content Explorer screen, which is filled with links to subjects on the disc. Clicking on the word "About" on this screen will produce a written description of the contents and function of each element of the program.
To Print Pictures or Text
To print out a topic or section from Birds of the World, follow these instructions:
1. First, get what you want to print on your PC screen. If you wish, maximize the window (top right corner) to increase the area shown.
2. Press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard (usually located on the top row, right side). This copies the contents of the screen to the Windows clipboard.
3. Next, click on your "Start" button, go to "Programs", then "Accessories", then "Paint". This opens MS Paint.
4. Go to the edit menu and choose "Paste". You will then be asked if you want to enlarge the bitmap area. Choose "Yes".
5. The "screen shot" will then appear in the Paint window. Go to the file menu and choose print in the usual way.
